Vice Admiral Ann E. Rondeau is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Eisenhower College in 1973 with a degree in history. She received her commission from Officer Candidate School in 1974. Vice Admiral Rondeau’s command tours include Officer in Charge of Military Sea Lift Command Unit, New Orleans where she earned her Surface Warfare qualification, and Executive Officer of Fast Sealift Squadron One. She was also the Commanding Officer for Naval Support Activity, La Maddalena, Italy and Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, TN. In addition, she was Commander of Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, and the first Commander of Naval Service Training Command and Navy Region Midwest. In November 2004, Vice Admiral Rondeau assumed command as Commander of Naval Personnel Development Command in Norfolk, Virginia. In 2005, she became Director of Navy Staff at the Pentagon. Shore and staff assignments include OPNAV Strategy, Plans and Policy Division, Assistant for Policy Analysis for Office of the Secretary of Defense and a posting as a White House Fellow. In addition she served in the Office of African Affairs, on the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Executive Panel as Assistant for Political-Military Analysis and as a CNO Fellow on the Strategic Studies Group. She served as Second Battalion Officer at the United States Naval Academy and also served as Officer in Charge of Plebe Summer Training. Vice Admiral Rondeau was also the Military Assistant to the Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Policy and has been appointed a permanent member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Political Science and has been conferred an honorary doctoral degree in Public Service from Carthage College. Vice Admiral Rondeau has the privilege of being designated as an Honorary Chief Petty Officer and Honorary Master Chief Petty Officer. Her personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (4), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Meritorious Service Medal (2), and Navy Commendation Medal (3). | |||||
