Profiles in Public Service - AO1 (AW) Adam Brophy
Aviation Ordnanceman First Class Adam Brophy was awarded the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Sailor of the Year Award. He was born October 22, 1980, in Flint, Michigan, to Harold and Sherri Brophy. Brophy graduated from Elizabeth Ann Johnson High School in May 1998 and joined the U.S. Navy Delayed Entry Program in June 1998. He reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, in August 1998 for boot camp. After completion of boot camp, Brophy was ordered to Pensacola, Florida, for Aviation Ordnanceman training where he finished with the highest academic score in his class.
Upon completion of his training Brophy received orders to Patrol Squadron 10, home ported in Brunswick, Maine. While attached he advanced from airman to second class petty officer, qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and received two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. After VP-10, Brophy was ordered to Naval Air Station El Centro in El Centro, California, reporting in June 2003, where he advanced to the rank of first class petty officer and served as the ammunition inventory leading petty officer for Weapons Department. While attached he was appointed as the drug education for youth program manager for the base where he received his third Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and was selected as NAF El Centro 2005 Sailor of the Quarter (4th Quarter).
In August 2006, he reported to USS Nimitz (CVN 68) where he presently serves as G-3 Division leading petty officer. Petty Officer Brophy currently serves on the Board of Aviation Ordnanceman Association and is an active member of Nimitz First Class Asscoiation. Petty Officer Brophy has been awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various campaign awards during his present tour.
He is engaged to Dana Magana. They presently reside in El Centro, California, with daughter, Brooklyn.
