SKC Jose Rodriguez was selected to receive the Dwight D. Eisenhower "Waging Peace" Leadership Award in recognition of his experience and leadership abilities. Chief Rodriquez currently serves as division officer for S-9 Division; this position is normally filled by a commissioned officer. In addition to his S-9 division officer duties, Chief Rodriquez also leads the six sailors of the Supply Quality Assurance Division (S-10).

Chief Rodriquez displays impeccable military bearing and instills this quality in his sailors. Through his outstanding leadership and mentoring, Chief Rodriquez has a reputation of molding sailors into top performers, and his leadership is evident because over the last two years he has had two sailors' command advanced to E-4. Chief Rodriquez's divisions are almost 100% warfare qualified, and the retention rates within S-9 and S-10 are 100%. Throughout the year his sailors have been consistently recognized as Supply Department candidates for Bluejacket of the Month, Petty Officer of the Month, and Sailor of the Month. In addition, some of his sailors have been selected as Dwight D. Eisenhower's Bluejacket of the Month, Petty Officer of the Month, Petty Officer of the Quarter, and Bluejacket of the Year.

In addition to serving as division officer for the Supply Department, Chief Rodriquez also serves as the assistant command fitness leader for the Supply Department. His personal leadership for the program has resulted in a 20% decrease in the number of supply sailors assigned to the Fitness Enhancement Program. Chief Rodriquez is a member of IKE Academy and taught Leadership Management Education and Training Classes to 40 Sailors each Month. He also serves as a member of the ship's Damage Control Training Team.
