Damon sees his service on Capitol Hill as an extension of his service in the military where he served five years in the Air Force (Decorated Gulf War Veteran). Growing up on public assistance provided him with a very different perspective on what people need to succeed. He tries to use his career to help assist those people coming from similar backgrounds. Damon has served as U.S. Representative Devin Nunes’ Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director since 2003. In this position, he manages the legislative staff and consults with Nunes on all legislative areas with a special focus on taxes, water, public lands, foreign relations, defense, and veterans’ affairs. Damon’s previous Hill experience includes working in the offices of U.S. Representatives George Radanovich and Mark Green as a legislative assistant and a legislative correspondent respectively. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and traveled to the United Kingdom to complete his master’s in international relations and European studies from the University of East Anglia. While in the United Kingdom, Damon served as a research assistant for Malcolm Moss, Member of Parliament. He is also a graduate of the Stennis Center’s 107th Congress Emerging Leaders Program that identifies individuals demonstrating significant leadership potential during the early stages of their careers on Capitol Hill. Damon was a Stennis Fellow in the 111th Congress. He is a private pilot and a scuba diver.
